Project X: The Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road.
Yep, The Great Ocean Road.

The Great Ocean Road is an Australian National Heritage listed 243-kilometre (151mi) stretch of road along the south eastern coast of Australia between the Victorian cities of Torquay and Warrnambool. The road was built by returned soldiers between 1919 and 1932, and is the world's largest war memorial; dedicated to casualties of World War I.

That was wiki btw, hahaha.

In my language, I would say that it is a long road with awesome views of the beach, cliffs, and limestone stacks. So much easier, eh? lol

As I mentioned in my last post, I went there on my birthday, 5th of July, with my mom and my lil sister. We had to woke up real early to catch up the tour bus in Melbourne. I think I woke up at 4 o'clock (I'm not exactly a morning person, so this is rare :'))

Anyway, it was a long long journey. We spent the whole day wandering on the great ocean road, including the lunch at Apollo Bay. I didn't took much pictures there, we just had fish and chips for lunch. And we also went to Port Campbell! It's a small, beautiful town with a lovely beach. Just the perfect place to stop and stare at the ocean.

I couldn't really remember all the places we've been too. Basically they're all beaches and cliffs and limestones. But one of the highlights of the great ocean road, is The Twelve Apostoles. They are actually limestone stacks along the coast. Supposedly 12, but if I'm not mistaken now there's only 7 of them. They're very susceptible to erosion, therefore leaving only 7. You can't really see the seven of them altogether in one sight, so in my pictures you might only be able to see some of them.

And I remember the wind!. It was frikin windy, much much worse than Williams Landing. Hahaha. So we had our pictures taken with massive wind effect. Kewl? (not for me, nah)

Well, I'll start off with my outfit. I wore my mom's super kewl denim shirt and floral skirt with an addition of the black scarf. And of course, I wouldn't forget my favorite leather jacket! To top it up, I know I've always been a harajuku girl inside, so I decided on going with black knee socks and my biker boots. I thought, well I thought, it would be enough to survive on the great ocean road. And it's basically near the ocean, so I was actually hoping on heaps of sunlight and light breezes. Instead, I had little sunlight (well, it's there at a time, but clouds come back pretty quickly) and mini tornados, which turned my pretty curls in to beach hair :))

and for a closer look at the outfit

then there's us waiting for the bus

 tour bus!

\
I know I had a weird face here, but the other pict with my mum was blurry, so..........
#blamemylittlesister

this is our first stop for sightseeing, but I couldn't remember the place's name haha

 selca's so important, eh?

and finallyyy, THE BEACH!!

and at the twelve apostles!

it looks like I slapped her with my scarf. kewl! HAHA

It was really cloudy and hazy, so I didn't quite get the most beautiful clicks on the cliffs (and I'm an amateur at photography, so......)

and finally, at the razorback (it's a name for the limestone cliffs), some friendly sunlight turns up :))

my mum said I should take pictures with the OZ natural bushes lol
there you go mom :))

then arriving at Port Campbell :))

idk why she looks so happy here......

coffee break?

Then we head off to our last stop, The London Bridge! Well, not the actual London Bridge in London, haha. The limestone stack there is called the london bridge, but I don't quite understand why, perhaps it looks like one? It looks like a bridge anyway. I heard there was something about the "london bridge is falling down" pranks going on there, but I'm not quite sure haha. Anyway, the sun was out again, it was chilly and windy, and you could see some hair-flipping going on. All hail the wind!

 The London Bridge

I can't see anything...................................

yeah, I think you guys have seen enough of the hair flips. It was indeed a horrible weather, but a good trip to sum it up! You guys should really head there if by any chance you went to Melbourne ;)

xoxo
